As you might have noticed, back when the project began, I was using Twitter quite extensively to promote You and Who. But you might have missed some of the tweets. What I was doing was taking short quotes out of people's submissions, and reproducing them completely out of context. Your mileage may vary, but I thought this was very funny! Here I have reproduced them for your amusement. (You never know, you might even spot something you wrote!)
"It’s the BBC’s duty to provide every generation of children with their own Doctor Who."
"The Cybermen were living on the first floor of my Nan’s house."
"Welcome to Doctor Who at the Rainbow House!"
"In Doctor Who authority was always seen as fundamentally bumptious."
"What were those strange pepperpots doing, laying waste to London?"
"Doctor Who in November 1963 had no idea who or what it was."
"To be honest, it’s fantastic."
"Why do I love a silly SF/fantasy show that often makes me cringe?"
"It's like Doctor Who, but it isn't, it's better done."
"It's strange and mysterious, with scary zombies and weird robot drones."
"It’s filled with character and charm, jokes and heart, and it’s brave enough to be wilfully silly."
"Laser wielding knights slogging it out with the army! The stuff of dreams."
"Cobwebs and silver balls that floated in the air..."
"A proper blend of serious and silly."
"I started in the middle, then worked backwards before moving forwards."
"The measure of success of new Doctor Who is whether it makes you cry."
"I had never been more terrified by something."
"What a genius idea."
"Like fish and chips and rainy days at the seaside."
"Absolutely bonkers! Really quite bonkers! Bonkers and…brilliant!"
"Another different Doctor Who – how the hell does he do that?"
“Ahhh, all my predecessors in this one!”
"He didn’t need a gun or a left hook, just a teaspoon and an open mind."
"Someone needs to spend the next three episodes on the naughty stool."
"You only have to see how many times fans think the Rani is coming back."
"Tolerance, compassion and bubble wrap painted green."
"A huge mega-faceted Grimm’s fairytale to delight the mind and senses."
"Into the TARDIS I go and do not want to leave."
"I enjoy the childish excitement every time I hear that wonderfully evocative theme tune."
"I could hardly believe one of them was Worzel Gummidge!"
"Beautifully written and poignantly played."
"I recall the whole sequence of visual effects being absolutely amazing."
"A soldier, a monster and someone who was apparently Doctor Who."
"I spent a fairly drunken fortnight drinking after hours with Sophie Aldred."
"The Doctor makes you happy when you’re feeling down."
"Those awesome, powerful cliff-hangers amaze me."
"The great thing with Doctor Who is, there is always more to discover."
“Doctor Who is a special show for special people.”
"I had just taken ownership of a tangible piece of Doctor Who history."
"It sends a shiver down my spine every time I watch it."
"It mattered not if the scenery wobbled or the monsters disappointed."
"Doctor Who is a concept without a specific genre remit."
"No context, no over-analysis, and no further gushing."
"That feeling of 'Saturdayness' you get from sitting down to an episode."
"Too many hills and fields and not enough planets and spaceships."
"It's not gloomy or filled with brooding guys in long coats skulking about in the rain."
"Dad, why are you laughing at that Vervoid?"
"Why not indulge in a bit of nostalgia?"
"After those amazing 45 minutes your life will never be the same again."
"Witty and playful and vibrant and filled with colour."
"Cricket bats, bow ties, sneakers, scarves and jelly babies."
"The Master was going to possess a snake on an alien world..."
"This wasn’t the Doctor that I knew and loved."
"That Troughton chappie won’t leave me alone!"
"I knew then that this was the best Doctor Who ever."
"How the plot made sense in that order, I have no idea."
"The Doctor had battled the 'manners' with Tegan and her uncle!"
"A cross between a missing BeeGee and Terry out of Minder."
"Everybody knows that dummies can’t – Oh my god it moved!"
"The highlight of Saturday Night TV in our house was The Generation Game."
"It contains at least two of the very best scenes in the whole of Doctor Who."
"I was heartbroken and hated Leela for months!"
"Cybermen burst out of silos and into the pages of my school workbook."
"It still thrilled and terrified the pair of us."
